If you haven’t heard, Alfie is a hero!
We all love Alfred N’Diaye and, despite how unlikely it maybe, he could remain a Sunderland player this season. Clearly he is much more than just a footballer.
During Real Betis’ final league game away to Osasuna, the barrier between the stands and pitch collapsed as a small horde of fans rushed to celebrate the opening goal in the 12th minute. A little shy of 100 people were injured during the accident, mercifully none were seriously injured and the match was able to restart 30 minutes later.
Alfie was one of the first to rush to the aid of endangered fans and you can watch him carry away a young Osasuna fan below like some kind of glorious combination between a superhero and a god;
He also had this to say;
"Osasuna had just scored. People were celebrating the goal, there was a stampede to the front and the metal barrier dropped. It was amazing because even though it is not a big stand it is very vertical.
And there, I saw people on each other. I do not know how, maybe a few dozen. It was shocking.
I went to see if everyone was okay. I saw a little one who was not well. There were not enough rescuers so my teammates and I, we tried to help. In those moments, you do not think football.
I just saw the pictures, and we see that is a little panicked. But hey, you're relieved that there were no deaths and only minor injuries."
What a man.
