There is a brilliant treat available for any SAFC fan with the stomach to relive the last few decades later this year…

Actor Paul Dunn, a massive Lads fan from Grindon, will be living the dream as he performs one-man show I Left My Heart In Roker Park later this year.

The play, written by top north east playwright Tom Kelly, features Paul as Kevin Halliday, reminiscing the events of his life as they interweave with the fortunes of his beloved football club. It covers events from the Roker Park days all the way up to last season’s exhilaratingly exasperating season. He had this to say;

“It is a play about excitement, heartache, disappointment, satisfaction and jubilation. “

“For Kevin, watching his team and living his life have both provided them all. Tom Kelly has updated his original 1997 script; it's a funny, poignant and ultimately heart-warming play that tells the story of one man's journey through his life and loves.”

No doubt this will be something we can all relate to on some ridiculously emotional level. So, if any of you fancy joining me there it will be performed at The Customs House (19th and 20th September), Washington Arts Centre (25th September) and Durham Gala (27th and 28th September). Tickets are priced between £8.50 and £12 with concessions available – check out theatre box offices or their websites for more detail. You can also find out more information on the play here.
