Jack Rodwell hasn't been seen in a Sunderland shirt for months. That apparent disappearance prompted some cheeky Mackems to erect 'lost' posters at the Stadium of Light last night to appeal for information.
Jack Rodwell's last appearance in a Sunderland shirt was in an outing for the club's Under-23s back in February and the former £10m man hasn't been seen since. In fact, you have to go back to last September to find the midfielder's last venture onto the field of play in a League game.
After the 27-year-old bemoaned his situation at the Stadium of Light to a national newspaper back in January, Rodwell has been a notable exile with almost nothing said about his current situation or fitness in recent weeks.
Seemingly bored of the situation, Black Cats boss Chris Coleman's last public utterance on the subject appeared to suggest he had no clue whether Rodwell is either available for selection or fit to play.
So with the ongoing absence of Rodwell from Sunderland reaching farce proportions, some mystery wags made their own feelings on the situation known by putting up 'lost' posters appealing for information at the Stadium of Light ahead of last night's clash with Norwich City.
The picture above has been doing the rounds on Facebook this morning but it's not yet clear whether the appeal for information has unearthed any information on Jack Rodwell's whereabouts.
The last public sighting of Mr Rodwell was on 10th February at the Metrocentre in the shopping complex's arcade section.
With the situation at Sunderland worsening by the day, a little gallows humour to lighten the mood is sorely needed right now. Poster-erector...we salute you!
*the above poster is in fact a hoax and members of the public should not contact the police should they sight Mr Rodwell in public. Instead, information should be forward to: Mr C Coleman, Stadium of Light, Sunderland.
