Player Ratings: Sunderland 1-0 Kidderminster

Definitely a match that most involved (and watched) will swiftly forget. As far as player performances go there was nothing huge to shout about except for two encouraging debuts and a goal for Charis Mavrias. We’re in the hat and, as we all know, that is all that matters in cup competitions! Here we go though...

Definitely a match that most involved (and watched) will swiftly forget. As far as player performances go there was nothing huge to shout about except for two encouraging debuts and a goal for Charis Mavrias. We’re in the hat and, as we all know, that is all that matters in cup competitions! Here we go though...

Oscar Ustari - 7

Only had one save to make and it was canny. Shouted a bit too which is always encouraging to see from your keeper.

Ondrej Celustka - 5

Think it's safe to say we'll not see much of him for the rest of the season bar injury. Neither will he be signed permanently. Gets an extra point for his endeavour but crikey he struggles to cope with a football.

Santiago Vergini - 7 (MAN OF THE MATCH)

Breezed through match with complete ease. Looks a baller, not afraid to maraud forward and passed well. Barely tested mind.

Modibo Diakite - 6

Like his partner he got through this without breaking much of a sweat. Didn't show the same quality and was often sloppy.

Valentin Roberge - 5

Better than Celustka in that he didn't give the ball away as much. Totally ineffective and definitely not much of a left back. That said, anyone but Dossena.

Lee Cattermole - 6

Part of a midfield which controlled possession but created little. Did pretty well but might've cost us a goal getting caught in possession. It's an awful habit.

Seb Larsson - 4

QUICK. URGENCY. PURPOSEFUL. PROACTIVE. CREATIVE. All describe the complete opposite of Seb's performance perfectly.

El-Hadji Ba - 5

Seemed rather lost and unsure of his role throughout. Plenty of time on this lad's side though.

Emanuele Giaccherini - 4

Appeared everywhere only to give the ball away or dribble away from any decent attacking opportunity. Completely complacent and should get a bollocking for it.

Charis Mavrias - 7

Other than his goal he wasn't a huge presence. But it was well taken an sends us to the next round. Generally tidy and looked as lively as anyone else.

Jozy Altidore - 4

He lacks the service they say. Hmm, whilst there might be some truth in that you'd be pushed to find a lazier performance. Patience waning if it hasn't already ran dry.

Fabio Borini - 5

Had the endeavour as he always does but was ineffectual this time.

Craig Gardner - 5

Much more suited to those games where we play without the ball a lot, or have to press hard. Otherwise, days like this occur. He wasn't awful.

Jack Colback - 6

This substitution could well have been as acknowledgement of Kiddy's pressure towards the end of the game. Helped to see it out.
