Player Ratings & Comments - are the walls closing on Phil Parkinson?

For perspective, it is only two games. Also for perspective, Parkinson's record is currently worse than Jack Ross, and Sunderland's current position is close to where we were for Jack Ross' early dismissal last season. No doubt Parky still has sometime, but with support already fragile after a poor start to life as manager.

However, Sunderland have a game in hand over Lincoln and Hull who currently occupy the automatic promotion spots. But the current gap from second is six points, and as we saw often during Ross' tenure games in hand are not a reliable source of points.

Charlie Wyke continued his fine goalscoring form thanks to yet another fine assist from Lynden Gooch, but twice Sunderland took the lead in the first half - the second through Bailey Wright - and twice the Lads gifted goals to the homeside.
