PLAYER RATINGS: Sunderland lose - which players aren't handling the pressure?

It's been nearly two months since Sunderland last tasted defeat but this one was particularly sour...

The match at Fratton Park was a clash of two clubs who are trying to revive a season which started so poorly. Kenny Jackett was once under similar fire to the since departed Jack Ross, who managed Sunderland as we won 2-1 at the Stadium of Light earlier in the season as the Lads came from behind to win.

The same task was presented to them as Burgess gave Pompey the lead midway through the first half, but Sunderland could not find a response, instead succumbing to a second and fatal blow early in the second half from James Bolton to ensure Portsmouth a deserved victory. We've all got our fingers crossed that Joel Lynch will make a speedy recovery, despite the best efforts of the referee.

Is this a mere blip in our road to recovery, or are we seeing just how fragile we can be in the face of adversity?

Player ratings time! Quite a task this week, with all substitutes getting enough game time to be rated. You can rate the performance of all 14 players and also leave a comment in our unique feature. Thanks!
