Player Ratings & Comments - disappointing debut, as Sunderland slip up again
After a comfortable pizza trophy win against MK Dons, the Lads couldn't replicate the result when it mattered most.
In your typical opportunity missed, shoulda woulda coulda situation, Sunderland could have moved to within five points of 2nd place Hull City with a game in hand and just seven off top spot.
Instead, they gave up their early lead in less time it takes to boil the kettle. Charlie Wyke confidently finishing off a nice move to open the scoring before an immediate equaliser from Joe Mason. Cameron Jerome threatened to make his twice-annual Twitter appearance after scoring to put the Dons into the lead, but in the second half, Luke O'Nien smashed home a technically delightful equaliser.
Whether we blame more the copious missed chances or refereeing decisions - one point is all we got and one point isn't what we need right now.
