The WAW lads have got together to throw out some very specific predictions for today's final, we've also collated some from our social media. If you want to join in, hop on Reddit, Twitter, Facebook or drop us a comment. If someone gets it spot on we'll have to do something special but it's so unlikely I don't think we will ever need to define that.

For those who get close, however, will join our VSP Hall of Fame

I’m going for a Sunderland win, but I fully expect the game be a tightly fought, cagey affair. I predict Tranmere will come out of the traps flying, grab an early goal but over the course of the 90 minutes, Sunderland’s quality will show and we’ll emerge victorious. I initially had Jordan Jones down to score our first goal, but with his injury concerns, I’ve changed to Lynden Gooch. Maguire to bag the winner off the bench late on, then Max Power to lift the trophy with Grant. Ha’way the Lads!

Sunderland 2-1 Tranmere

David Nugent 8’
Lynden Gooch 15’
Chris Maguire 75’

O’Nien, Flanagan & Wyke 🟨
Spearing & O’Connor 🟨

I expect Sunderland to win this and to win it comfortably. We should have the lions share of possession and this should allow our wingers to cause the Tranmere back four plenty of anxiety. Grant Leadbitter will sit and spray the ball about, giving us experience and control in the midfield. This leaves McGeady and Jones with plenty of opportunities to isolate defenders and create opportunities. Charlie Wyke’s movement and physicality should give him the edge against the league 2 backline. I worry slightly due to the fact that Connor McLaughlin and Tom Flanagan have just returned from injury and will be expected to play a part, but the team spirit and togetherness that Lee Johnson has forged throughout the side should see us come good.

Honestly, I just want to see us lift a trophy at Wembley. I was born in the 90’s so my memories of the FA Cup win in ’73 was a commemorative cup my Dad would drink his morning coffee from and some highlights off Youtube. We’ve never been presented with a better chance than this to being some silverware back to Wearside and I fully expect Lee Johnson’s side to grant my wish.

2-0 Sunderland

Wyke 23’
McGeady 50’

O’Nien, Jones 🟨
Lewis, Spearing 🟨

For me it will be a Sunderland victory. Last season Tranmere were harshly relegated to League 2 as they had a game in hand over all their bottom half rivals. Tranmere retained the majority of their squad which will make this a much closer game than many expect.

In familiar fashion the Lads will be quick out of the box and gain an early 2-0 advantage. Through goals from Wyke and O’Nien. However, David Nugent will grab a late goal off the bench to set the game up for a nervy finish that the lads will come through to win 2-1.

2-1 Sunderland

Charlie Wyke 12’
Luke O’Nien 28’
David Nugent 78’

O’Nien, Power, Gooch, McFadzean 🟨

Spearing, Clarke, Feeney 🟨

I probably shouldn't have done this on the morning of the game. I originally thought this would be a fairly dull affair which we win be a solitary Charlie Wyke bullet header to nil, but let's be honest. We are going to smash these. Grant Leadbitter is going to reveal his FTM shirt as he lifts the Pizza Trophy to signal our rise through the divisions as KLD works on resigning Yann M'Vila.

Tranmere will come out of the blocks to try and make a game of this, but I think our quality up front will be too much. I think the absence of Dion Sanderson is a significant blow for our defence and because of that I don't expect a clean sheet. It'll be a generally well mannered game where we don't see many cards.

Sunderland 4-1 Tranmere

Woolery 12’
Wyke 31’, 74'
McGeady 45’, 57

Flanagan 🟨
