Why Bathurst 1000 circuit map is so legendary?

If you know Mount Panorama Circuit, you already know this race is bound to be spectacular. For those who don’t, the track features two long straights where cars reach 190 mph, corners perfect for braking duels and overtakes, and a hill climb followed by a descente on a winding, narrow track with very few run-off areas. The circuit is world-renowned for its complete layout that tests both cars and drivers. Mount Panorama Circuit also hosts the Bathurst 12 Hours, GT3 endurance race.

V8 Supercars, a completely crazy category

The V8 Supercars Championship is a competition where two types of cars face off. On one side, there’s the Ford Mustang GT with a 5.4-liter V8 engine, and on the other, the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1, powered by a 5.7-liter V8. Both naturally aspirated of course. I wanna point out that these are not the regular street versions but race-prepared machines. Both cars share common elements like the chassis, tubular reinforcement, and tires. To match the road relevant regulation, each engine is rigorously tested to produce 600 horsepower. Additionally, both types of bodies are tested and fine-tuned in wind tunnels to ensure aerodynamic equality, making for exciting, balanced racing. Driving these cars requires extreme precision and nerves of steel to control the raw power, especially with limited aerodynamic downforce. In essence, V8 Supercars is about harnessing violent power with finesse.

Why watch the Bathurst 1000?

There are usually plenty of surprises in this race. The 2014 edition is often considered the craziest race, even more entertaining than Formula 1 races, or the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The two cars that started from the bak of the grid ended up competing for the win after chaotic race. You can actually watch this edition on YouTube, and I highly recommend checking it out. For the 2024 edition, 28 cars will line up at the start. With that many competitors and a standing start, I see 28 good reasons to expect some chaos right from the beginning. And as the race goes on, we’ll even get to witness a spectacular sunset towards the end, adding to the drama of the final laps. It’s a much-watch for many motorsports fan, especially those who crave unpredictable action-packed races!

How to watch the Bathurst 1000 in the US?

This year, the Bathurst 1000 will take place on Sunday, October 13, 2024. In the US, all sessions will be broadcast live on Fox Sports and Kayo Sports starting from Thursday, October 10. From Friday, October 11, you can also follow the event for free on the Seven Network. This include full coverage of the main race on Sunday. Make sure to check local schedules for exact times.

Who was Jules Bianchi, last driver to die in Formula 1?

Personally, I remember spending hours racing on Mount Panorama Circuit in Forza Motorsport when I was younger. I can’t wait to see how this race turns out!

I grew up near Magny-Cours, an old Formula 1 circuit in France so I've been passionate about motorsport and automobiles since childhood. I currently live in Bordeaux, France and I'm still waiting for Ferrari to win a 17th F1 constructors' title.
