Its body has been lightened and reinforced, including the addition of a tubular safety roll cage. The suspension has received special attention with bespoke shock absorbers, stiffer springs, and uniball joints replacing traditional bushings for better durability and stability on unpredictable surfaces. As for tires, studded Pirelli Sottozero rubber ensures maximum grip on ice. Under the hood, the original engine has been significantly upgraded. The displacement increases from 1.6 liters to 1.8 liters by extending the piston stroke. The result? A power output of 173 hp and 200 Nm of torque, providing impressive responsiveness even at low revs. A sequential gearbox and a limited-slip differential complete the setup, ensuring optimal acceleration and perfect control on slippery terrain.

The Lada Iskra is built on a platform derived from the CMF-B architecture, shared by models from Renault, Dacia, and Nissan. However, its development took place without Renault’s support after the two companies severed ties. This independence allowed Lada to design a vehicle tailored to the specific needs of the Russian market and local racing competitions. The racing version will be officially unveiled during the 27th edition of the Race of Champions, held in the Samara region of Russia. This event will serve as the launchpad for the Iskra before it hits the tracks and, eventually, the roads with its production version, expected in spring 2025.
